EQUIMAZE - EQUINE THERMOGRAPHY

Equimaze at Dukeries

Following keen interest at Haywood Oaks, Equimaze will be at the Dukeries Ride on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This image shows a horse after completing 64km at Haywood Oaks.  The scan was taken the following day after the ride and shows an asymmetrical thermal pattern to the gluteal and hamstring regions.  The horse was not lame and passed final vetting.  This is an example of how thermography assists in the training of your horse.  This was a warning that the horse had done enough and needed a period of rest until the muscle inflammation had subsided.

This image was taken one week later after the horse had rested and the inflammation had started to subside.

Two weeks later and the horse is ready to start work again.  If the horse had continued with training prior to the the two weeks rest period, this may have lead to more serious injury.
